Data Gallery Walk with Transit Advocates

On Friday, March 15th the MBTA hosted its fourth AFC 2.0 Policy Development Working Group meeting, where we engaged local advocates in our data analysis process for identifying point of sales locations.

We posted sample maps all around the room that highlighted different factors that we could take into account when determining where to place new fare vending machines. Factors could include areas with high cash usage, Senior and T.A.P. card usage, and many others. Advocates went on a “Data Gallery Walk” around the room, looking at the maps and providing us feedback about the types of data we are using and how we should be using it. These productive conversations are informing our analysis going forward, ensuring that we create a network of sales locations that will actually work for our riders.

The Policy Development Working Group meets every two months to provide feedback on different issues related to policy in AFC 2.0. For more information, learn how you can Get Involved.
